KUALA LUMPUR: i-City in Shah Alam, famed for its LED light displays, has partnered with Nickelodeon SEA, a leading family entertainment brand to provide on-air, online and on-the-ground activities over the next 12-months, it announced on Monday, Mar 7.

"The strategic alliance will not only strengthen i-City's positioning as a family leisure night tourism spot in the Klang Valley, but will also add another dimension in the promotion of Malaysia as a tourism destination," said i-City marketing director Monica Ong.

Datuk Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen commented that the Tourism Ministry "will extend all its assistance to the Nickelodeon/i-City partnership as I am confident that this tie-up will further enhance Malaysia as a tourism destination".

About US$5 million (RM15.15 million) of international promotional and themed programmes have been lined up for visitors. Nickelodeon's most popular characters, Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob Squarepants will make special appearances at i-City's key events.

On Mar 19, visitors will enjoy the launch of Snowalk, an indoor winter wonderland, with Dora the Explorer during a meet and greet session, by enjoying the facilities first snowfall. Other events in the pipeline are the celebration of Children's Day and the New Year's Eve Countdown, amongst others.

With 90,000 visitors a week, i-City's tie up with Nickelodeon will only reinforce i-City's position as a family leisure destination.

i-City is a 72-acre site in Shah Alam earmarked as a tourism destination. It has LED light displays and various other commercial and retail spaces to cater to tourist and locals. Furthermore, the site caters to businesses by also provides 30Mps high speed multi-telco broadband connectivity, fibre optics network with backup power supply and various other technologically advance features.
