KUALA LUMPUR: ICI Paints (M) Sdn Bhd expects positive growth this year, driven by its new eco-friendly paint Dulux Pure, which is specifically formulated to purify interior air.
Its managing director C W Goh said the new paint, priced from RM25-RM40 per litre, has been in the market for about a month and received good feedback from consumers and retailers.
“For this new paint, AkzoNobel spent about two years on research and development as we recognised the rising need for safe, health and eco-friendly paint solutions for our customers,” he said at the launch of the paint here yesterday.
AkzoNobel is the world’s largest paints and coatings company and producer of specialty chemicals since its acquisition of ICI Paints in January 2008.
Goh said the Dulux Pure is GreenLabel and Sirim Eco-label certified, and has undergone a series of performance tests on air purification.
“The paint refreshes indoor air by neutralising the formaldehyde gas and converting it into water vapour,” he said.
He said the mould- and fungus-resistant paint would also reduce the amount of volatile compounds, an organic chemical compound which adversely affects the environment and human health.
“This mould and fungus-resistant paint reduces VOCs and transforms indoor air — making the indoor air as fresh as the natural air outdoors,” he said. — Bernama
