One of the developers that have made it to the Top 10 list of The Edge Top Property Developers Awards developers since its inception in 2003 is IOI Properties Bhd. This year it is ranked 6th, a position unchanged from last year.

This consistent performer is one developer who is always looking at ways to improve and one way is better customer service, Lee Yoke Har, IOI Properties Bhd’s general manager for marketing and business development shared in an interview with The Edge.

During The Edge Property Excellence Awards 2010, Yoke Har, who attended the awards ceremony with executive director and brother Datuk Lee Yeow Chor, said with its numerous projects in the Klang Valley, Johor and Penang, it is always looking to provide innovative products to homebuyers. It does this by having bi-monthly study tours to discover new ideas and designs at various developments.

The Group, which is one of the oldest and most established property developers in the country, is synonymous with its two flagship projects Bandar Puchong Jaya and Bandar Puteri Puchong.

Taken private by IOI Corp Bhd and voluntarily delisted from Bursa Malaysia in August last year, the developer has two malls in its stables including the IOI Mall in Puchong and commercial developments such as the Puchong Financial Corporate Centre (PFCC) in Bandar Puteri Puchong.

Moving forward, the developer is hoping to push the green building agenda and aims to have all its purpose-built office towers to be rated by the Green Building Index (GBI). Yoke Har believes this is no longer a choice but the way forward.  For residential projects the developer will look into rainwater harvesting and solar water panels to be standard features in future developments.

Currently, the developer is focused on building its latest township Sierra 16, with the launch of 446 townhouses this year. Next year terraced and semi-detached houses will follow suit. It also plans to launch The Cube in Bandar Puteri Puchong, a boutique 42-unit bungalow and semi-detached office project in 2011.
