KUALA TERENGGANU: The Kuala Terengganu City Council Cooperative (Kosmat) is investing RM12 million in real estate in the state.

Mayor Datuk Adzlan Mohd Dagang said the move was to expand cooperative's economic activities.

Its first project was the development of 73 residential units on a 3.4-hectare site in Kampung Banggul Mempelam, Mukim Serada, near here, he told Bernama.

He said the project comprised 51 single-storey and 12 double-storey terraced houses, and eight one-and-a-half-storey semi-detached and two bungalow units.

The one-storey terraced houses would be sold at RM125,000 each while the double-storey terraced houses RM188,000. Prices for the semi-detached units would be from RM250,000 while the bungalows from RM280,000.

"The prices are reasonable and lower when compared with the usual market prices," Adzlan said.

He said the project was being developed by Plantika (M) Sdn Bhd and expected to complete in two years. Construction would begin soon and the houses were now open for booking, he added.

He said Taman Kosmat Indah would have a surau, a community hall and a playground.

Meanwhile, Kosmat chairman Husni Yahya said the cooperative's 818 members would be offered discounts to buy the houses.

Kosmat has also acquired a piece of land worth RM500,000 near Tanjung Jara Resort in Dungun for the development of 35 terraced houses. — Bernama
