KUALA LUMPUR: Leica Camera AG of Germany on Thursday, July 28 opened its world's biggest store at Avenue K in Jalan Ampang here.

Measuring 1,500 sq ft, it was the first of its kind among its 52 stores worldwide and would offer the entire range of Leica cameras besides being an authorised service centre, said Sunil Kaul, managing director of Leica Camera Asia Pacific.

The flagship store, a partnership between Leica and Lagenda Manusia Sdn Bhd, was officially opened by the German Ambassador to Malaysia Guenter Gruber, who said that photography enthusiasts in this region would now be better served by its presence.

Gruber, who disclosed that he was an avid photographer during his younger days after he was presented with a Leica camera, said Leica was one of the many German brands that stood for superb quality and precision engineering.

Sim Hai Yeun, general manager of Avenue K, said Leica Store Malaysia was an integral part of the shopping mall's rejuvenation programme and more flagship and global lifestyle stores would open there after its renovation by the end of the year. — Bernama
