NUSAJAYA: Goldbury Communications Sdn Bhd will take up 9,200 sq ft of office space in Medini 6, the first purpose-built office development by Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MIMSB). Goldbury will also take up another 29,000 sq ft in the upcoming Medini 7 in June 2015.

Goldbury, a home-grown IT automotive consultancy firm, signed a letter of offer in Medini 6 on May 23 in conjunction with the launch of its Global IT Automotive Hub and Training Programme which will be based here. The event was witnessed by  Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

“We are very pleased with the progress MIMSB is making as it was just five weeks ago that we signed our first tenancy agreement with Huawei, a leading global ICT solutions provider, for office space in Medini 6,” Khairil Anwar Ahmad, managing director and chief executive officer of MIMSB, said in a statement.

“We are proud to have been able to attract international and local players alike to Medini, hence, erasing the perception that Medini is meant to attract only international companies. I applaud Goldbury’s ambitious and aggressive growth plans as they inspire other local entrepreneurs to seize business opportunities in Medini,” said Khairil.

Medini 6 has a total gross floor area (GFA) of 80,000 sq ft and comprises four two-storey blocks and a cafeteria. Sizes range from 6,000 sq ft to 11,000 sq ft with some tenants taking up multiple units. MIMSB declined to disclose the rental rates but said they are in line with market rates in the rest of Nusajaya. The building will be ready for occupancy in June and will have a total of five tenants.

Medini 7, which is being built adjacent to Medini 6, will have a GFA of approximately 144,000 sq ft and will be ready for occupancy in 15 months.

“We plan to build two more offices by 2017,” Zulbahari Abu Bakar, MIMSB’s director of town management services, told The Edge Financial Daily. “We do not have a name for these offices yet but they will be high-rise, unlike Medini 6. The first office will have a GFA of 489,000 sq ft and 250,000 sq ft for the second.”

Tenancy in the new offices will be targeted towards the creative media and business services industries.

MIMSB is the master developer of Medini, a flagship development within Iskandar Malaysia in Johor that covers an area of 2,230 acres (902.26ha). Its primary role is to ensure the systematic and harmonious development in the area, coordinating with other prominent Malaysian and international developers.
