KUALA LUMPUR: The Johor Branch of the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) will be hosting a real estate convention outside Kuala Lumpur for the benefit of its members who do not reside in the Klang Valley or Selangor.

Set to be held on Oct 31 and Nov 1, 2009, the theme of the convention is “Iskandar Malaysia – The Rise of A New Metropolis”.

Organised by the MIEA Johor Branch and Insitute of Estate Agents, Singapore, the event will be held at the Permata Ballroom, Puteri Pacific Johor Baru, said MIEA president Julie Wong in a statement on Oct 1.

The Federal and Johor state governments plan to promote Iskandar Malaysia as a strong and sustainable metropolis of international standing during the convention.

Iskandar Malaysia, formerly known as Iskandar Development Region and South Johor Economic Region, is the main southern development corridor in Johor.

During the first day of the convention, speakers representing the key players in Iskandar Malaysia’s five highlighted zones (Zone A to E) will be providing progress updates, current and future plans in their respective fields.

“On the second day, we shall examine some of the more important property-related issues in the context of Johor,” Wong said. These include investment trends, environmental concerns, property investment opportunities and efforts to market Malaysia internationally, she added.

Two of the speakers will be Daisy Ong Danker from Consensusbiz (MM2H) Sdn Bhd and Previndran Singhe, chief executive officer of Zerin Properties.

Only limited seats are available for 300 participants from both Malaysia and Singapore. Call 07-355 8877 or 012-720 3399 for more details.
