KUANTAN (July 6): The Pahang Islamic Religious Council (MUIP) has ventured into real estate with the acquisition of three hotels in Jerantut and Kuantan.

MUIP deputy president Datuk Seri Wan Abdul Wahid Wan Hassan said the investments had potential and were expected to provide good returns.

"The RM60 million, two to four star rated hotels have been in operation since June 1," he told reporters here on Friday.

He said the hotels in Kuantan were MS Garden and Darulmakmur Lodge with more than 200 rooms and the 39-room Darulmakmur in Jerantut.

The religious council was also involved in a 1,600-acre palm oil plantation in Chini and 500-acre rubber plantation in Jerantut, he added. — Bernama
