PETALING JAYA: Naza Hotel Management, a unit of Naza Group, plans to add two to three new hotels to its stable, with one in Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, over the next three to five years.

Director of Naza Hotel Management, Nur Nadia SM Nasimuddin said the company plans to invest between RM50 million and RM60 million for each hotel.

"We are still studying the matter. We plan to add two or three more hotels, with one of them located in Kuala Lumpur," she told reporters after the launch of the newly re-branded Naza Talyya Hotels here on Dec 10. Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Ng Yen Yen officiated the event.

Naza owns three recently renovated 3-star hotels strategically located in Johor Baru, Melaka and Penang. The refurbishment exercise was part of the Naza Group's strategy for its hospitality division, in line with its objective of delivering quality service, value and comfort. The refurbishment exercise cost RM18 million.

"We renamed the hotels (from Naza Hotels to Naza Talyya Hotels) based on the idea of re-growth to bring about change to our hotel chain, which first began operations in Penang in August 2002," she said.

Despite the economic downturn, Naza Talyya Hotels are enjoying a steady occupancy rate of between 60% and 70%.
