IPOH: The Perak Malay Contractors Association Malaysia (PKMM) will be investing RM50 million to develop a complex building in Bandar Meru Raya here this year, its Chairman Datuk Wira Jamaluddin Abdul Rahim said.

He said the complex to be known as Wisma PKMM Perak, will house PKMM Perak's headquarters building, a four-storey office block, shophouses and a seven storey apartment comprising 700 residential units.

"We have received approval for the site measuring about one hectare from the Perak Economic Development Corporation and we are now in the process of preparing all the documentation before starting work on the land this October.

"To smoothen the mangement of our association, we are planning to sell the building units to members. This will also allow them to own assets while the area is made Wisma PKMM," Jamaluddin told a press conference here on Wednesday, Apr 20.

Jamaluddin said the association was also planning to offer a 10% discount for members keen to transfer their business operations to the complex.

The special discount for its 1,200 members will be also given if they buy from the 700 units of apartments to be built.

"We want to create a Malay residential community here and will give priority to our members to buy the apartment units once they are completed," he said.

The complex enjoys a strategic location as it is next to the Meru Raya bus terminal and the upcoming Mydin Hypermarket due for completion end of 2012, he added. — Bernama
