SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government has advised private landowners to ensure that their land is not encroached on, otherwise they may lose the property. Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said district offices had been given the green light to issue notices of seizure if private land was found to be encroached by sand thieves.
“I believe the district offices and Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd will do what is necessary to ensure that sand thefts and encroachment ... grind to a halt. I want to remind landowners that if sand thefts occur on their land, district offices could issue a notice of seizure even though they are not the sand thieves, but their land will be forfeited,” he told reporters yesterday.
Abdul Khalid said the state government would come down hard on sand mining syndicates, including impounding their bulldozers for a longer period. — Bernama
