KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's request for more people's housing projects (PPR) will be given due consideration, said Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung.

He said the ministry realised that a big state like Sabah needed more affordable houses for people in the low income group.

"I assured the Chief Minister that Sabah will not lag behind in the construction of houses under PPR," he said after paying a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman here on Monday, Jan 10.

Chor said more than 20,000 houses for the low income group were built in Sabah under the Eighth and Ninth Malaysia Plan.

"Some 1,000 houses in Batu Sapi and Kampung Muhibbah, Sandakan will be completed by 2013 under the Tenth Malaysia Plan (10MP)."

He added Sabah's request for another 20,000 houses will be studied as 10MP has only just begun. — Bernama
