HONG KONG: CB Richard Ellis (CBRE), the world's largest commercial real estate services firm, has elected Dr Mark Smith as managing director for client development for global corporate services.
Based in Hong Kong, Smith will be responsible for client development of global corporate services business across Asia.
This appointment forms part of the broader strategy by CBRE to drive further growth in global corporate services across the region. The company had set their sights on expanding enterprise-wide relationships with large multi-national organisations and driving new business opportunities across Asia.
Global corporate services delivers integrated real estate solutions across Asia Pacific to corporate end users. The group specialises in providing transaction, project and facilities management services through a centralised account management approach.
"Our global corporate services business has grown extensively over the past three years and is now recognised as an international leader in providing corporate real estate outsourcing solutions," said Phil Rowland, managing director of CBRE in Asia.
"Mark is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the real estate and construction industry. His strategic approach, global experience and successful track record will be a positive force in driving the growth of our outsourcing business," he continued.

With over 25 years of experience, Smith has advised both domestic and international initiatives for numerous Fortune 500 companies, including General Electric, Bank of America, Intel, Sun Microsystems, American Airlines and the Walt Disney Company. In China, he led major deals for both multinational companies as well as state-owned enterprises, including Proctor & Gamble, Duracell, Hong Kong MTR, China Far East Trading, Novartis, and the Las Vegas Sands Macau.
Smith was also senior managing director for Asia real estate at FTI Consulting. He also led the development and global growth of Ernst & Young's real estate advisory practice for 22 years, where he served in a number of key positions, most recently as their managing partner and global leader of real estate advisory services.
Smith is also an author, having delivered more than 100 papers and presentations for national publications and conferences in the industry. He is a registered professional engineer, a certified public accountant as well being a distinguished Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
