KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Holdings Bhd's unit Sunway Geotechnics (M) Sdn Bhd has secured contracts totalling RM14.7 million for projects in Bandar Springhill, Port Dickson at Negeri Sembilan.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia on Friday, Nov 19, the group said its unit had accepted the letters of award from UCSI Education Sdn Bhd and UCSI Resort Hotel and Convention Centre Sdn Bhd for piling and pilecap works in two construction projects.

The first project entails the proposed construction of a medical centre and faculty of medicine comprising a 12-storey hospital, a double-storey mechanical and engineering (M&E) complex and a guard house for UCSI Education.

Meanwhile, the second project entails the proposed construction of a 17-storey hotel with 319 rooms, a 14-storey student hostel with 390 rooms, a single-storey restaurant with a swimming pool and a three-storey car park from UCSI Resort.

The group estimates the first project to be completed on March 21, 2011 with a construction period of four months, while the second project has is to be completed on February 2011 with a construction period of 12 weeks.

Sunway expects these projects to contribute positively to its earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2011.
