KUALA LUMPUR: The Works Ministry will submit several proposals on the Parliament building to the Cabinet in two months, its minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said on Thursday, June 17.

He said the ministry was looking into three proposals while repair works were carried out on the existing Parliament building.

The first proposal, he said, was to temporarily relocate Parliament to the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), while the second proposal was to build an additional new building at the existing Parliament site.

He said the third proposal was to turn PICC into a new Parliament House while the existing Parliament building be turned into a historical gallery.

"The ministry has been asked by the Cabinet to prepare the proposals in three months and a month has already passed. So, we have another two months," he told reporters after presenting the excellent service award to the ministry's staff here.

Shaziman said this in response to a statement by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz on the proposed new Parliament building.

Earlier in his speech, Shaziman said the ministry was targetting a zero problem project in the implementation of development projects under the Tenth Malaysia Plan.

He said only 96 projects or 1.6% of the total 6,104 projects under the Ninth Malaysia Plan were not completed. -- Bernama
