KUALA LUMPUR (April 1): Former KL Tower operator Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd and its subsidiary Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd will get their day in court over eviction notices issued last year.

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 26): The Sessions Court here today fixed 17 days beginning May 7 for the trial of a company director charged with offering a RM500,000-a-year bribe for 15 years in connection with the takeover of the Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) concession.

High Court judge Datuk Raja Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah Raja Mohzan allowed Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and the government’s application to strike out the suit on the grounds that Asian Kitchen had no legal right to bring suits over concession agreements it was not party to.

LSH Capital said it respects the former operator's right to appeal, and that the company is confident in the judicial process and the legitimacy of its position as a concessionaire.

Roz Mawar said that although Hydroshoppe and Menara KL tried to amend their lawsuit, they still failed to clearly explain their claims against the three companies.

High Court judge Roz Mawar Rozain ruled there were no grounds to grant leave for the proceedings as there was no temporary injunction granted after Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd and its subsidiary Menara KL Sdn Bhd lost in their application, a decision that was upheld by the Court of Appeal.

Menara KL and Hydroshoppe’s lawyer, Vinayak Sri Ram of Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership, said the eight—who include Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and senior government officials—had allegedly forced the takeover of the iconic KL Tower despite the legal proceedings initiated in March.

Judge Roz Mawar Rozain has fixed next Thursday (June 5) to hear the ex parte application which the AGC is expected to also submit.

New operator LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd (LSHSM) said Sky Deck tickets now cost RM50 for MyKad holders and RM28 for MyKid holders.

Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd is now planning to take legal action (committal proceedings) against the Ministry of Communications and the Federal Lands Commissioner, accusing them of a forcible takeover of the tower when it temporarily closed the KL Tower early on Thursday morning.
