Malls in the Klang Valley are welcoming the 2019 Lunar New Year decked in the colours of spring and in auspicious hues of red and gold. Many also featured decor inspired by Chinese heritage and culture. But there are so many malls out there so, here are four malls in the Klang Valley which could be worth paying a visit to this festive season!

*Simple but interesting DIY Lunar New Year décor ideas

1)      One Utama Shopping Centre in Bandar Utama, Selangor, for example has turned its LG Oval Concourse area into a garden of giant daffodils, peonies, cherry blossoms and colourful pinwheels or “Fortune Windmills” as the mall calls them.

2)      Sunway Pyramid in Bandar Sunway, Selangor on the other hand, has chosen to pay tribute to the Hakka people’s heritage in Malaysia.  The mall’s LG2 Orange Concourse is decked out in Hakka costumes and props which have been designed and set up with the help of the Federation of Hakka Associations of Malaysia to ensure that they truly reflect the culture of the Hakka community. The mall went so far as to build a replica of the circular-shaped traditional communal or clan residence of the Hakka people called the Tulou.

3)      Meanwhile, The Curve at Mutiara Damansara has drawn inspiration from traditional Chinese tea culture where one offers tea to show respect to the older generation. An elaborate grand teahouse has been set up as the backdrop for various cultural performances throughout the festive season.

4)      From the Hakka Tulou and teahouse, we now move to the grand “Imperial palace” at Pavilion KL in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. The “Regal Celebration” begins with a welcome by two golden lion sculptures at the entrance and then on to the Spanish steps to witness a display of specially-curated Chinese costumes before entering the magnificent throne room or imperial court.

The above are just a few of our favourite mall decorations this CNY. Which ones are yours?
