Some Jinjang Utara longhouse residents still not moving out

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 29): The Jinjang Utara longhouse residents have been presented keys to the PPR Seri Aman flats but some of them are still moving out of their old homes.

Kepong Community Centre head Yee Poh Ping has revealed why this is so.

“Some have already moved in but some have not. The problem now is that some residents have converted their longhouse units into store rooms, while others asked their next of kin to move into the units, in hopes of getting Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to offer them another PPR flat,” Yee was reported by The Star saying.

“I hope DBKL will speed up the process of relocating the longhouse residents and come up with some agreement with the next of kin who also want to live in PPR Sri Aman.

“Since the original tenants were offered to buy a PPR unit at RM35,000 each, perhaps the next of kin can be offered to rent a unit at PPR Sri Aman or a different PPR,” Yee added.

According to reports, the “original settlers” moved into the Jinjang Utara longhouse about three decades ago and were later provided homes in the new PPR Seri Aman.

Longhouse site will soon host a mixed development project.

Yee added that the delayed relocation process is also causing a census problem.
