KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 12): CIMB Group Bhd has arranged for a number of reliefs for CIMB Bank Bhd and CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd customers who have been affected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

In a statement yesterday, the group said affected consumer banking clients will be eligible for restructuring and rescheduling of their loans to ease their burden, while affected business customers can approach the bank to discuss and reschedule their payment arrangements.

CIMB group chief executive officer Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz said the group is committed to treating its customers fairly and compassionately, particularly those affected by adversity.

“We would also like to reassure our customers that all cases will be given due consideration. We hope that all the measures put in place will provide some relief to those customers impacted by the virus. CIMB is also open to the possibility of extending repayment periods for customers, where necessary,” he added.

For insurance or takaful policyholders, CIMB’s bancassurance partners, namely Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Bhd, Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Bhd and Berjaya Sompo Insurance, have also officially announced they will extend their coverage under the respective existing policies for policyholders who have been impacted by COVID-19.
