KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 12): The PKR disciplinary board has rejected vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin’s (pictured) request for a postponement of the hearing against her, reports say today.

PKR disciplinary board chairperson Ahmad Kasim said in a statement today that the board has given Zuraida until Feb 20 to attend the disciplinary hearing, reported Malaysiakini.

“This is because she is a minister and may be busy,” Ahmad explained.

Zuraida is the Minister of Housing and Local Government. She also the law maker for Ampang.

Ahmad explained that the board had received her letter on Feb 10 asking for an adjournment as she was also facing defamation actions from two other PKR leaders on the same issue.

“She faces three charges in all. The cases are only relating to one of them,” said Ahmad

Zuraida has been referred to disciplinary action over her “fiery” speech at the Shared Prosperity Vision (SPV) 2030 dinner on Dec 8 that was critical of PKR leaders, including president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

It has been reported that Zuraida is also facing legal action from Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak and PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail over the same speech.

Last week, Zuraida's political secretary Nor Hizwan Ahmad said she had sent a letter to Anwar seeking leave from her post of PKR vice-president until the party's disciplinary board concludes its deliberations on her case.
