IPOH (Oct 27): The Perak state government is in the midst of reviewing the collecting farming land scheme (RTB) sites to expedite the process of granting land ownership to farmers.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pictured) said the granting of the land ownership title would enable farmers to make a more systematic long-term agriculture plan.
“Among the sites that have been identified to be developed in collaboration with the Menteri Besar Corporation (MB Inc) are the foot of Gunung Masoorat as well as areas around Gunung Rapat, Gunung Lang here and Taman Herba in Gopeng,” he said.
He said this in reply to a supplementary question from Leong Cheok Keng (DAP-Malim Nawar) on the long-term plan undertaken by the state government to solve the issue of landless farmers at the State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.
Ahmad Faizal who is also Chenderiang assemblyman said the state government had also introduced the urban and community farming project on idle state-owned land located in urban areas.
He said the community-based urban farming programme was initiated last July at Taman Meru Perdama, Chemor and would also be implemented at Taman Villa MDP, Tanjung Rambutan next month.
Meanwhile, State Rural Development, Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad said the Perak Foundation would apply for an additional allocation for the repair and refurbishment of public housing in the state due to high demand.
“The RM1.3 million allocation is not enough and the Perak Foundation will ask the state government to increase it to RM5 million but it all depends on the state government’s financial ability and this will also be discussed in the 2021 budget,” he said.
Saarani (Barisan Nasional-Kota Tampan) said this when replying to a supplementary question from Terence Naidu (DAP-Pasir Berdamar) who wanted to know whether there is plan to increase the allocation for that purpose.
