Matrix Concepts Holdings group executive deputy chairman Datuk Lee Tian Hock said a property developer’s role goes beyond just providing housing and supporting the national home ownership agenda.
“Our responsibility extends to creating quality community living concept by building harmonious, multi-racial and vibrant communities,” said Lee in his award acceptance speech at the BMSPA 2021 Gala Dinner tonight.
He stressed that being sustainable is no longer a choice.
“Being sustainable is a rewarding long-term investment any organisation can adopt as part of its business practise... to safeguard and enrich the future of the next generation,
"And my special appreciation to EdgeProp Malaysia, for this recognition which inspires us to go further in our sustainability efforts and initiatives,” he added.
Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin was the guest of honor of BMSPA 2021.
The developer’s vision and commitment to value creation and the sustainability of the township are the key reasons of winning the recognition.
Lee emphasised that a development would not be sustainable if it fails to generate vibrancy and possess the elements necessary to be self-sustaining.
Anchored with this and armed with over 25 years of industry experience under its belt, the developer set out to develop the 6,000-acre Bandar Sri Sendayan township with an estimated gross development value of RM8.13 billion in Negeri Sembilan.
The developer did not stop at merely building homes and amenities like schools, hospitals and retail elements to serve the residents’ daily needs.
Industrial, recreational, institutional and educational developments such as the Sendayan TechValley, Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) Academia, Sendayan X-Park and a 26-acre green park, among others were built to attract investors and to create job opportunities.
Currently, the township not only attracts property buyers from Negeri Sembilan, over 50% of Bandar Sri Sendayan’s housing buyers today actually come from the Klang Valley.
