JOHOR BARU: 1Segamat Mall, the first lifestyle shopping mall in Segamat, is expected to draw a crowd of 45,000 per month. The mall opened its doors on Aug 25.

Located in Jalan Kolam Air in Segamat, Johor, 1Segamat Mall is developed and managed by Tashima Development Sdn Bhd — a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ecofirst Consolidated Bhd.

The mall has three retail floors with a gross floor area of 450,000 sq ft, with a net lettable area of 280,000 sq ft and a two-storey car park. The retail space has been fully-leased by a mix of tenants from food and beverage outlets, entertainment outlets and cinema, to retail, fashion, jewellery, and other services.

Its main anchor tenant, UO Superstore, occupies 60,000 sq ft on the lower ground. Others include Lotus Five Star Cinema, Big Apple Donuts & Coffee, Guardian, Kamdar and Popular Bookstore.

Tashima has also completed the construction of seven 3- and 4-storey shoplots on a site next to 1Segamat Mall. There is an 81-room budget hotel, Koptown, which is fully-operational.

According to Ecofirst, with businesses generated from the mall and the integrated developments nearby, the real estate value of the surrounding land is expected to rise. This will in turn, enhance the value of properties in Segamat.

The opening was officiated by Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, the Sultan of Johor.

Ecofirst is a company listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia. It was established in 1973 and has become a diversified group with business interests in property, construction, bio-organic technology, mineral resources and other investments.
