KUALA LUMPUR: Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali by Alila Hotels & Resorts has won three international awards in recent months, the hotelier stated in a press statement on Tuesday, Nov 23.

Alila Villas Uluwatu perched on a cliff-top location on Bali's Bukit peninsular won the Best Hotel Design — Resort at the Gold Key Awards in New York this week; it also won the World's Best Holiday Building at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) this month; and the Best Resort Hotel in the TTG Asia Awards in October.

The hotel also beat out 180 projects from 19 counties in the The Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality and Design. The hotel was judged on its aesthetic appeal, practicality and functionality of design and WOHA, the Singapore based architects behind Alila Villas Uluwatu, were recognised for their innovative approach.

In the WAF awards, the combination of eco and design credentials pushed the Balinese resort to the top of 500 entries from 61 countires. WAF is the world's biggest global celebration of architecture help in Barcelona this month. Entries are voted on by distinguished architects and industry experts. The Alila Villas Uluwatu was praised for embracing environmentally sustainable design principles without compromising style.

Lastly, the TTG Asia awards saw the resort beat out stiff competition to be one of 25 category award winners from 48,300 nominations.

The Alila Villas Uluwatu is the first resort in Bali to achieve EarthCheck (formerly Green Globe) certification for building, planning and design.
