KUALA TERENGGANU: Felcra Bhd will develop 10,000 hectares of land in Terengganu, under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP), in a move to involve more settlers in replanting programmes.

In announcing this, Che Mohd Zainun Abd Jalil Senior, planning executive at Felcra Bhd's Eastern Region, said the land would either be replanted with oil palm or natural rubber.

Besides, he said Felcra would also undertake the replanting of trees which had no more economical value.

Che Mohd Zainun added the development programme would be carried out in stages involving 5,000 hectares of land at any one time.

Todate, Felcra has developed 24,000 hectares of land in Terengganu, including 5,000 hectares which would be replanted.

"A total of 5,500 people are involved in Felcra schemes in the state," he said, adding that landowners who handed over their land to be developed by the agency would reap nett profits once the land raked in returns. — Bernama
