Housing developer fined RM10,000 for stealing water

SHAH ALAM: A housing developer was fined RM10,000 by the Sessions Court here on Thursday, July 28 for installing an illegal water connection three years ago.

Judge Aslam Zainuddin handed down the sentence to Syarikat Bina Mandat Sdn Bhd after its director Chew Koh Wah pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 123 of the Water Services Industry Act 2006.

The company paid the fine.

Bina Mandat was charged with making the illegal connection from a water main at No 2, Lot 13823, Jalan Jubli Perak 22/1, Seksyen 22 here on July 8, 2008.

During proceedings the court was told the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) received a complaint from Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd of the illegal connection. — Bernama
