KUALA LUMPUR: The Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) and Singapore Contractors Association Ltd (SCAL) are jointly participating in the Construction Business Mission to Bangkok, Thailand, from Oct 8 to 10.

The objective of the mission is to enable delegates to gain a better understanding of the Thai property and construction market as well as to source for potential business opportunities.

In a statement on Oct 8, MBAM said it would also attend the Asean Constructors’ Federation (ACF) meeting in Bangkok on Oct 9.

The event would focus on updates on the Asean Coordinating Committee on Services and Asean Senior Labour Officials Meeting.

Ng Kee Leen, president of MBAM, said the sharing of information would enable MBAM to sharpen its competitive edge in tackling the challenges of a competitive global construction market.

“Our focus right now would be to understand the immediate concerns of ACF members and prepare a long-term plan to resolve common issues on a regional level as well as help grow the construction market in the region,” he said.

Ng added that ACF is also exploring the possibility of promoting the opportunity to join forces with other members to participate in large projects globally through cooperation and sharing of resources and expertise.

MBAM is one of six members of ACF. The others are Indonesia Contractors Association (ICA), Philippines Constructors Association, Inc (PCA), Singapore Contractors Association Ltd (SCAL), Thai Contractors Association (TCA) and Vietnam Association of Construction Contractors (VACC).
