Kubina, WIBM

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 7): Wanita Industri Binaan Malaysia (WIBM), a non-profit organisation for women professionals in the construction industry, was launched at the Konvensyen Usahanita Binaan (Kubina) today.

Kubina was held in conjunction with International Construction Week (ICW) 2015, which runs until Sept 11 at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
ICW is an annual event organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and supported by Ministry of Works Malaysia.

Speaking at the launch, CIDB senior general manager Sariah Abdul Karib said WIMB is a platform to empower women in the construction industry.

“This organisation is founded on the basis that we want to allow women professionals in the industry to grow and to seek opportunities to help them to enhance their careers.

“We hope to provide a support network for  women in the construction industry and to develop [WIBM] into a global organisation in the future.
WIBM encourages individuals to pursue, establish and sustain successful careers and businesses in the construction industry,” said Sariah.

WIBM was founded by a group of women in the industry and was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies in Malaysia in January. It supports women in  various construction-related professions including architects and contractors.

Sariah added that the organisation will conduct seminars and workshops to improve skills in the construction industry.
