KUALA LUMPUR: The resolutions to remove seven Ho Hup Construction Co Bh directors were approved at the EGM on Wednesday March 17.

The resolutions were carried through with 55.94% of the votes cast in favour of their removal.

Earlier, three of the directors -- Foo Ton Hin, Lim Ching Choy and Long Md Nor Amran Long Ibrahim -- walked out from the EGM.

They left the EGM as the the resolutions were being read out. They had earlier declined to chair the meeting and it was a shareholder, Yahya Razali who was eventually appointed chairman.

At the EGM, among those present were non-executive director Low Teik Kein, younger brother of Ho Hup former managing director Datuk Low Tuck Choy, who owns 22.66% via his family vehicle Low Chee & Sons. Teik Kein also declined to chair the meeting.

The EGM started at 2.53pm and by 4pm, the vote counting was underway.

Tuck Choy had requisitioned for the EGM in a bid to replace Ho Hup's present board members except for Teik Kein. The seven are Ho Hup deputy chairman Datuk Vincent Lye, who controls Extreme System Sdn Bhd, which owns 27.95% of Ho Hup, Lim Ching Choy, Datuk Liew Lee Leong, Lai Moo Chan, Long Md Nor, Mohd Shahril Hamzah and Foo.

Low has proposed that six new directors are brought in to replace them, namely Datuk Kamaruzzaman Shariff, Hew Thin Chay, Yusob Md Tasir, D Felix Dorairaj, Slamat Hamzah and Chow Seck Kai.
