PETALING JAYA (May 10): Before investing in property, buyers place priority on location and would look to get more information online, and they hope theedgeproperty.com will be able to help them do that.

This was the feedback obtained from the public on the third and final day of the activation campaign of the launch of the all-new theedgeproperty.com by The Edge Media Group.

Razlan Rahim, 35, manager of logistics and administration at Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) shared how he aims to invest in a condominium in the Bandar Utama area.

"I know the location has increased tremendously in its values. For property investment, I think location is most vital.

"I hope this portal, especially the area-based analytics, will guide me in the values of the area," he told theedgeproperty.com when he joined the activation campaign.

Wong Wee Meng Hee, 40, chief operating officer of animation company, Fly Studio Sdn Bhd, admitted: "Location is perhaps the most important thing I consider before I invest in property."

"With the right location, you can see the potential of your property. It is important to get the right information and do plenty of research," said Wong, whose latest investments include a (landed) property in Bandar Saujana Putra.

Mohd Kabir Mohd Akram, 29, structural engineer at Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd from Taman Desa said he tended to go online to learn more about location-based aspects such as the distance between a property and its surrounding amenities.

"Also, the property's price per sq ft, built-up, rental rates and its value," he said.

Originally from Milan, Italy, expatriate Ananda Ferro, 61, revealed that he looked for property information online, before deciding to rent his current apartment in Ampang, to enjoy his retirement.

"I researched for rental rates from property web portals before deciding on my stay here in Malaysia," said Ferro, who has been in Kuala Lumpur for two years.

"So long as theedgeproperty.com offers accurate data and articulate information, investors and even expats such as myself would definitely find it to be beneficial," Ferro added.

theedgeproperty.com was officially launched on Thursday and features advanced analytics by area and property type, sales transactions, asking rental rates, surrounding amenities, a hot spot tracker, projects and free listings.

The final day of the activation campaign saw the cruisers visiting Bangsar surroundings, including near Bangsar Village, Bukit Bintang, IOI City Mall Putrajaya and the Changkat Bukit Bintang area to increase awareness about theedgeproperty.com as well as The Edge Property pullout that comes free with The Edge Financial Daily on Fridays.
