KUALA LUMPUR/LONDON: London-based Thornsett Group is launching a new residential development, St David's Apartment, located in Islington, London and Malaysia is getting the first look at the property on Feb 18-20 at JW Marriot Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Thornsett Group and sales agent Currell have teamed with Hartamas Real Estate Sdn Bhd in Malaysia to deliver these apartments to investors and owner-occupiers who are looking for properties in London.

Thornsett Group director Bernadette Cunningham said in a statement that this is the first time a London project is being been launched exclusively to the Malaysian market.

Hartmas Real Estate manager K C Chan said usually developers would launch in London, then Hong Kong and Singapore before coming to Malaysia as the last stop, giving Malaysian buyers less choices when purchasing.

"(The property) has not launch anywhere yet, not even in London. First launch is in Kuala Lumpur," Chan said, adding that Thornsett has confidence in the Kuala Lumpur market.

Potential buyers get the opportunity to purchase one of the 30 units of one- and two-bedroom apartments, due for completion by end-March or early April 2012, with the unit built-up varying from 502 sq ft up to 890 sq ft.

St David's Apartments is being built on the site of the 1950s St David's Church Hall and would consist of seven floors overlooking Paradise Park.

Thornsett said that most apartments would have access to a terrace or balcony with views of the park. The development also comprises four dual-aspect penthouse units with large terraces.

Located in the residential area of Highbury and Islington, the apartment in an area that is rich in history as well as a thriving area for culture and entertainment.

Thornsett Group added that St David's Apartment is also in close proximity to Highbury and Islington and Caledonian Road tube stations, providing easy access to central London and the West End in just ten minutes on the Piccadilly and Victoria lines.

The company said that the area has a large community of young working professionals in, making it's an ideal choice, taking into consideration the large available rental pool. City University London, London Metropolitan University and CASS Business School are also located nearby, making the area in demand by university students studying in the UK.

"The development will have a positive impact on both the local area and the wider Islington community; not only will the development provide much needed residential accommodation, it will enable the creation of the local community and worship facility, the St David's Centre, for which there has been enormous support," Cunningham said.

Thornsett added that the land receipt from the site will be used by the church to redevelop the neighboring St David's Centre, a multi-functional, contemporary community and worship centre, for the benefit of the local area.
