KUALA LUMPUR: Zinc?InVision Hospitality is targeting to open 30 hotels in Asia by 2013. The new hospitality brand which was launched on Jan 17 as a result of a joint partnership between Thailand-based InVision Hospitality and Singapore-based investment company Cinnovation ?CG is eyeing the luxury, deluxe and middle tier segments.
It already has seven hotels and hospitality brands such as Zinc City, GLOW STUDIOS, Zinc Edge, Zinc Living, SOMA and Touch by Zinc. The company currently operates five hotels in Thailand, out of which three are located in Bangkok.
In Malaysia, the company is set to manage two luxury hotels – SOMA Lepa-Lepa in Mabul Island minutes from the famed Sipadan Island in Sabah and the Rice Miller Hotel in Penang. SOMA Lepa-Lepa is scheduled to open in 2H2012 while the Rice Miller Hotel & Residences will open in December 2012.
Founder and CEO of InVision Hospitality Kevin Beauvais told theedgeproperty.com that there are a lot of untapped opportunities in Malaysia. “We are pretty confident with our entry into the luxury market in Malaysia via SOMA Lepa-Lepa and the Rice Miller Hotel & Residences. We believe the time is right and we have the right products in locations that are not tapped to their maximum potential,” he added.
Beauvais has over 30 years experience in hotel development and management, including 25 years with Marriott International. He also served as chief operations officer and a director of Minor International PCL, which owns the award-winning Four Seasons Resorts in Thailand and Anantara Resorts.
InVision Hopsitality was founded in Thailand in 2007 and is a management, consultancy and advisory services company for the hospitality industry in Southeast Asia.
Cinnovation ?CG president Binod Chaudhary believes that Malaysia is undersold. “There is a huge future for the country and there is a need to market the Malaysian brand and market it independently. We should benchmark it against famous destinations such as Phuket and Maldives. I have learnt that everybody can sell a bed. We are here to sell the experience and create unique journeys for our guests,” he added. Cinnovation ?CG is part of a Nepal-based global conglomerate Chaudhary Group with holdings in excess of US$1 billion.
“I am excited and extremely confident about bringing the innovative hotel brands we have created within Zinc?InVision Hospitality to the global market. We aim to succeed by anticipating social trends and the emerging demands of hotel customers and matching these with well designed hotels and well trained staff,” Chaudhary said. The financial arm of Cinnovation ?CG for collaboration in the hospitality sector Zinc Holdings currently also owns equity in several Asian hotels and brands such as Alila Hotels & Resorts management company, TAL Hotels & Resorts, Amaya Hospitality (USA) and Taj Safaris.
