PUTRAJAYA (June 26): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pictured) on Thursday officiated the launch of the Kota Madani development project in Precinct 19—a major smart city initiative designed to be people-centric and environmentally sustainable.

The RM4 billion project will be developed by Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PjH) through a public-private partnership under the build, lease, maintain and transfer (BLMT) model, without utilising government funds at the initial stage.

Kota Madani will feature 10,000 high-density residential units capable of accommodating over 30,000 residents, along with vertical schools and various public amenities.

The development will integrate artificial intelligence (AI), smart digital infrastructure, and green mobility systems.

Planned public facilities include technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, schools, health clinics, fire and police stations, a mosque, and financial institutions—all designed with local cultural elements to preserve architectural heritage.

The first phase of development is scheduled to begin in September, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

The project is part of the government’s commitment to realising the Malaysia Madani vision and CHASE (clean, healthy, advance, safe and sustainable)  city goals.

Kota Madani is poised to become a pioneering model for future urban development in Malaysia, and a benchmark for other areas.
