Small business operators in Negri Sembilan will soon have the opportunity to operate in shop lots that are affordable to own.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the state was looking into the idea of constructing affordable shop lots for small traders to help them upgrade their street business by relocating them to a proper structure.

“We want to assist those running small businesses who cannot afford to own shops,” he told reporters.

“For most small businesses, normal shop lots are beyond their means,” he added.

The state government is proposing one-storey shop lots as a solution to workshops operating under trees and stalls by the roadside.

Mohamad said that the affordable shop lots will be open to businesses with an annual return of less than RM500,000.

“We want to make sure, in our state, all can own houses and shop lots to run businesses in a proper place.”
