Chor: Transparent, systematic public utilities maintenance needed

ALOR GAJAH: Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung has urged local authorities (LA) to adopt a transparent and systematic approach in the maintenance of public infrastructural facilities.

He made the call, following findings in the Auditor-General's Report which showed their failure in carrying out maintenance of public infrastructure.

He appealed to local authorities that maintenance be given focus and special emphasis to ensure each building implemented under their purview was functional.

"As an example, public facilities such as community halls were found unkempt and not periodically maintained," he told reporters after opening the Alor Gajah Bus Terminal here last Sunday, Oct 30.
