E&O Hotel gets Expedia recognition as one of the world’s best

PENANG: The Eastern & Oriental Hotel (E&O Hotel) (pictured) in Penang has been ranked among the world’s best hotels in this year’s Expedia Insiders’ Select™ list.

The list formally recognises individual hotels worldwide that consistently deliver excellent service, a great overall experience and a notable value. The full list represents only a small percentage of the world’s top hotels from the more than 110,000 hotel properties offered on Expedia, a travel reservation website.

The 125 year-old E&O Hotel is located in the Unesco World Heritage Site of Georgetown. Hailed in its heyday as the “premier hotel east of the Suez”, it has welcomed guests such as Rudyard Kipling, Noel Coward, Douglas Fairbanks, Hermann Hesse and Somerset Maugham. Recognised as one of Penang’s heritage landmarks, the 100 all-suite hotel enjoys high occupancy rates throughout the year.
