KUALA LUMPUR: The 6-storey “Camelot” (pictured), the castle-like bungalow along Jalan Changkat Duta in Taman Duta, Kuala Lumpur has been on the market asking for between RM10.5 million and RM11.5 million since the end of last year.

However, the freehold estate was recently put up for auction by EON Bank Bhd at a substantially-discounted reserve price of RM6 million. The auction set for May 20 however, was called off at the discretion of the court on that day, said auctioneer Chew Kok Eng.

The freehold estate is a landmark in the Taman Duta area. The building is owned by L & L Holding Co. Sdn Bhd and it is learnt that Datin May Lee Leong who has called Camelot home for decades still lives there.

Camelot has been listed for sale by several real estate agencies on property sites since the end of last year. Built in 1983 on a 16,000 sq ft plot, the partly-furnished mansion features 14 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms and four separate kitchens, the listings said. The whole structure has a total built-up of more than 16,500 sq ft, and it could be divided into five separate areas with individual entrances.

On one of the listings, an agent described the building needs only minimal renovation as its original structure can be maintained. The main area that opens up to a grand staircase has a built-up of 5,000 sq ft, while the second area with an indoor garden and man-made waterfall has a space of 4,800 sq ft.

“The third area is approximately 2,800 sq ft and has a roof garden. The fourth and fifth areas meanwhile, face the swimming pool and have a built-up of 2,600 sq ft each,” information from the classifieds posting said.

Camelot is also fitted with solar water heaters, automatic gate, air-conditioning systems, and a 25ft by 40ft swimming pool.
