KUALA LUMPUR: Mah Sing Group Bhd’s maiden residential high-rise venture The Icon Residence (pictured) at Mont’Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, has received over 1,500 registrants of interest since initiating a registration campaign in early January, said group deputy chief operating officer (COO) Teh Heng Chong.

“The registrants are Malaysians as well as foreign investors,” he told theedgeproperty.com.

Sporting a unique façade purportedly inspired by Mediterranean cliff-side resort towns, the project, with a gross development value of RM279 million, is slated for a soft launch in mid-May.

Targeted at 35-year-olds within the professional and business circles as well as young families. “We are confident that this new project, with its strategic location and vibrant neighbourhood, will be able to address the pent-up demand for niche-sized serviced suites at value pricing,” Teh added.

Apart from its unique façade, The Icon Residences will also feature 24-hour cutting edge security and comprehensive facilities, he said.

The development offers 300 partially or fully-furnished units on 2.57 acres of freehold land. The units range in size from 850 to 1,800 sq ft, to complement the existing high-rise offerings of larger units, said Teh. The Icon Residence’s indicative pricing is between RM750 to RM900 psf.

“We shall commence construction once we obtain the necessary approvals, which we anticipate to be by end-2Q or early 3Q2010,” said Teh.

Premised on “luxury garden terraces in the sky”, the serviced suites will be housed in uneven blocks interspersed with gardens and connected by bridges. “The design will do away with the long linear effect of the block mass,” he explained.

The Icon Residence is a reconfiguration of what was initially a commercial project The Icon@Mont’Kiara. To recap, Mah Sing subsidiary Maxim Heights Sdn Bhd had on Nov 3, 2009, called off the en bloc sale of The Icon@Mont’Kiara for RM285.4 million, to Prompt Symphony Sdn Bhd.
