KUALA LUMPUR: The Edge Communications Sdn Bhd former managing director and editor-in-chief,  Ho Kay Tat, will re-join the company from January next year.

Executive chairman Datuk Tong Kooi Ong announced yesterday that Ho will assume the post as group CEO and publisher of The Edge Media Group.

Ho who will leave the Star Publications Bhd as CEO and managing director at end-November left The Edge in July 2010.

He joined The Star as COO and a year later was made group MD and CEO. Star announced his departure on Wednesday.
“I recently announced that I was stepping down from the board of UEM Land Holdings to focus on my own business and devote more time to my family.

“To help me, I have invited one of my closest friends, Ho Kay Tat, to join me to manage and possibly to partner me in some of my businesses and in particular, The Edge Media Group,” Tong said in a statement.

Tong said he has known Ho for nearly 20 years, and described him as one of the key people who had helped build The Edge in Malaysia and Singapore.

“I am happy to announce that Kay Tat has accepted my invitation, and I look forward to working with him again,” Tong said.

Tong also said that after The Edge Media Group had recently revamped The Edge Malaysia, it is aiming at regional expansion.

“I also recently launched fz.com, a brand new free news website that promotes freedom of expression and fairness in articulation. Kay Tat will be playing key role in these areas,” he said.
