KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 22): Landmarks Bhd has appointed Stefan Thumiger (pictured, below) as the new chief operating officer of the 338 ha Treasure Bay Bintan in Indonesia.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Treasure Bay Bintan team and look forward to bringing my expertise to this mammoth development. We want to offer our guests an unforgettable experience, making Treasure Bay Bintan a place where they will look forward to coming back time and again,” said Thumiger in a press statement yesterday.
Thumiger will be in charge of the overall business performance of Treasure Bay Bintan development, including its owned and managed properties and strategic partnerships.
Thumiger will work with the team on day-to-day operations and oversee the hospitality division to deliver seamless and memorable experiences for guests. He will report to Fong Chee Khuen, group chief operating officer of Landmarks.
Thumiger has held a variety of positions within international hospitality groups in diverse luxury hotels such as Burswood Resort Hotel & Casino in Perth, Hotel Sol Melia in Indonesia, the Le Meridien Resort & Casino in Vanuatu, and Hilton International in Egypt, Turkey and Abu Dhabi.
Thumiger has a track record for hotel turnaround and repositioning. Prior to his current role, he was the area general manager for Banyan Tree and Angsana Bintan.
Treasure Bay Bintan will be developed in three phases. The first phase had a soft launch earlier this month. It comprises international and boutique brands such as Canyon Ranch Bintan, Crystal Lagoons, Chill Cove, The Canopi Resort, Mercure and Ibis Budget.
