ABU DHABI: Chairman of Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Hajri has announced the opening of the newest and largest water hotel in Abu Dhabi by the end of this year, Emirates news agency said on March 30.

The hotel, known as Grand Canal, will add a new dimension to green tourism and will be considered one of the most beautiful tourist resorts not just in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but also in the Gulf and Arab regions.

The hotel, owned by Abu Dhabi National Hotels, will be constructed on the sea coast, and inspired by the architecture of Venice, he said this at Gulf Travel and Incentives Exhibition and Conference (GIBTM) at Adnec here.

Al Hajri also announced that ADNH will open a Park Hyatt hotel on Saadiyat Island in the first quarter of next year.

He explained that the company will continue to grow and expand to serve the tourism sector in the emirates of Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

In this regard, Al Hajri pointed out that ADNH has recently opened the Sofitel hotel in Dubai that comprises 438 rooms.

"The company will not stop and will not defer any of the projects that have been agreed upon, for the full conviction that there is a promising future awaiting the tourism industry in Abu Dhabi and the UAE," Al Hajri said.

He also announced the establishment of desert resorts in Abu Dhabi in future, pointing out that the company is currently conducting research and studies in preparation of such projects that aim to make use of the nature of the desert and the picturesque golden sands.

"Such desert resorts will attract many tourists from Europe," he said, adding that all the hotels will be wary about protecting the environment and save energy by relying on modern technology.

Al Hajri pointed out that the company continuing its plans for future growth and expansion in the tourism market, stressing that the decline in travel rates is temporary and will last for only a few months.

He said ADNH is determined to develop the Al Diyar hotels group within the state, making them a unique sign of tourism and travel in the UAE. -- Bernama
