KUALA LUMPUR: Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) member companies will join the Construction Business Mission to The Maldives from Oct 12 to 14 to foster better ties and explore business opportunities with their Maldivian counterparts.

Led by MBAM president Ng Kee Leen, the trip is a follow-up to the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Maldives Association of Construction Industry (MACI) in September 2007 to promote engineering and contracting business between both associations.

"This is an important visit for us as we need to chart the partnership with MACI more proactively," said Ng.

"We cannot be passive but instead we must have more interaction with MACI to drive both organisations forward, build strong relations with MACI to understand not only the difficulties but also the opportunities for construction business in the Maldives."

The trip will coincide with the 34th International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors’ Association (IFAWPCA) Midterm Executive Board meeting which will be hosted by MACI.

Ng said through regular visits, Malaysian construction professional services could be promoted overseas.
The delegation will also focus on cementing and expanding business ties within the IFAWPCA construction network where MBAM is a founding member.
