KUALA TERENGGANU: MIDF Property Berhad, a wholly owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad, plans to set up a biotechnology park on a 320-hectare site in Lembah Perasing in Jabor, Kemaman.

Chairman Datuk Kalsom Abdul Rahman said the park was in line with the federal government's East Coast Economic Region development programme.

"We will propose the plan to the Terengganu state government soon as we have already advanced 30% of the land cost.

"Universiti Malaysia Terengganu has showed interest and wants to build a branch campus to develop green technology at the park," she told reporters after handing RM100,000 MIDF Property business zakat to Wan Harunjan Sulaiman, chief executive officer of Terengganu Malay Customs and Islamic Religious Council, witnessed by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said.

Kalsom said RM19 million was needed to develop infrastructure facilities at the park and RM50 million for the overall development cost. — Bernama
