KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 2): The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) is coming down hard on owners of haphazardly parked vehicles effective this month to overcome traffic congestion in areas under its jurisdiction.
Acting MPK president Ehsan Mukri said haphazardly parked vehicles would be towed away.
A compound fine of up to RM300, RM100 in towing cost and payment of RM10 per day would be charged on the owners when they claimed their vehicles, he said in a statement here on Thursday.
He said the council would also intensify enforcement against owners of heavy vehicles found parked in residential areas.
In another development, he said the council was offering a special discounts of RM10 for each compound notice for motorists to pay their compound for parking offences. — Bernama
