HONG KONG: British developer London Square recently presented its latest development The Star and Garter in Richmond Park, Richmond West London. The developer is restoring this Grade II-listed building to create 89 luxury apartments and duplexes.
“The Star and Garter is London’s most exciting residential address,” said sales and marketing director Rebecca Littler. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy a celebrated London landmark, a residence rich in history that offers a five-star lifestyle with the highest level of specifications and bespoke detail.”
The Star and Garter overlooks the River Thames and 2,500 acres (1,012ha) of Richmond Park. The development’s appeal lies in its world renowned view from Richmond Hill that is protected by an Act of Parliament.
Period features of the development are combined with contemporary interior specifications, materials and finishes of the highest standards.
According to a Knight Frank report, Richmond’s cultural, social and economic position is parallel to that of Prime Central London adding to its appeal for investors.
Knight Frank’s London residential research head Tom Bill said Richmond’s history and geography combines the verdant English countryside with the grandeur and affluence of prime central London.
“Richmond benefits from its position in a corridor of affluence that runs through south-west London,” said Bill. “Prices have also been boosted by buyers increasingly seeking more square feet for their money outside central London, particularly higher price brackets due to strong growth in traditional markets such as Knightsbridge and Belgravia.”
He added that prices in Richmond rose 10.9% in the year to June 2014 versus 8.1% in prime central London.
It was also reported that there is a strong rental market in Richmond with a growth of 1.5% to June this year across south-west London.
Investors can look forward to well-known restaurants, smart designer shops, splendid architecture as well as the largest of the Royal Parks where individuals and families can ride, golf, cycle, walk and enjoy other activities.
Richmond also boasts good state and private schools. International schools in the area include the German school in Petersham and the American International University next to Richmond Park.
Travel is also convenient as Richmond has a national rail, as well as overground and underground lines 1.1km from The Star and Garter. Richmond is also 16km from central London and less than 14.5km from Heathrow Airport.
