KUALA LUMPUR: Property developer S P Setia Bhd is sponsoring the publication of a coffee table book entitled Selangor: 300 Early Postcards that captures the transformation of Selangor through a series of postcard galleries.
The book is authored by Prof Dr Cheah Jin Seng and published by Editions Didier Millet and Jugra Publications.
It was officially launched by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on Thursday, May 12.
S P Setia Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the collection of postcards depicts the state's journey through the years, adding that it would become an important historical resource recording Selangor's rulers, places of heritage, people, early economy, flora and fauna.
"It is our hope that the publication will bring about a renewed appreciation of the marvellous history of Selangor and also the tremendous progress which has been achieved over the past 110 years," Lee said.
Sultan Sharafuddin, who personally collects postcards, said in his foreword in the book that postcards help cherish history, enabling people to fully appreciate the great strides that have been taken for Selangor and Malaysia to be developed.
The book is available in all major book stores at RM99 for the soft cover version.
