KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway City Bhd (SunCity)’s Human Capital Development Department, under its property development division, won the HR Achievement Silver Award, the property developer announced in a statement on Wednesday, July 21.
Minister of Human Resources Datuk Dr S Subramaniam presented the award to SunCity international property development managing director Ngian Siew Siong and human capital development senior manager Paramjit Singh during the Malaysia HR Awards 2010 held by the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM) at Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa, Bandar Sunway on July 20, 2010.
“We are pleased to win this award as it reflects SunCity’s commitment and efforts in promoting human capital excellence. At SunCity, we have always believed in the importance of nurturing our human capital as they represent the foundation of a company’s growth and success,” said Paramjit.
He added that the company will continue to implement more initiatives to improve individual employee performance and reward them accordingly.
The HR Achievement Award evaluates several areas such as effectiveness of human resource (HR) functions; human resource development strategy; best practices in human resources; continuous learning and development; application of human resource system and technology; and recognition of human resource as a strategic resource in organisational growth.
The award has a three-tiered selection process with panelists comprising MIHRM council members and senior fellows, HR practitioners and academecians as well as senior representatives of the organisation.
Meanwhile, chief executives of past winner, as well as invited chief executives were involved in the final stage of selection.
The winners will receive a plaque and an award certificate.
SunCity touts its working environment as a ‘Great Place to Work’ (GTPW) with emphasis on ‘Learn + Do + Enjoy + Be = MORE’. It focuses on raising productivity, retaining employees and infuses motivational ideas in its work environment by providing an engaging workplace.
