KUALA LUMPUR: The owners of 237 houses in the 5A and 5B phases of the Saujana Putra housing estate can move in to their homes after a year's delay as Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) has agreed to provide temporary water supply.

The delay was due to the failure of the developer providing the water supply.

National Water Services Commission (Span) central region director Nik Mohd Nasim Nik Ismail said Span had ordered Syabas to provide water supply temporarily to the residents.

"The residents will receive the temporary supply until the developer provides permanent supply under a system to be completed in April," he told reporters after witnessing the installation of individual water meters by Syabas in Phase 5A, here on Feb 3.

Syabas would bill the residents individually for the temporary supply, he said.

The problem over water supply had resulted in the house-owners failing to get the Certificate of Fitness from the Hulu Langat Municipal Council.

The 5A and 5B phases of Saujana Putra should had been ready in 2005 but the project was abandoned due to financial problem faced by the developer and was resumed in 2008. -- Bernama
