WCT, Iskandar Investment unit in RM600m venture

KUALA LUMPUR: WCT Bhd and Iskandar Investment Bhd will jointly develop and co-own 1Medini, the first residential development in Medini which has a gross development value of RM600 million.The companies said on Wednesday, Oct 28 1Medini, when completed by 2015, would comprise of 1,332 units of condominium, a 68,800 sq ft commercial area for local retail businesses.

Mah Sing announces new acquisitions

KUALA LUMPUR: Mah Sing Group Bhd announced the acquisition, via its wholly owned subsidiary Sierra Peninsular Development Sdn Bhd, of a plot of prime land in Petaling Jaya measuring 19.6 acres. The land was acquired from Panasonic HA Air-Conditioning (M) Sdn Bhd for RM89 million.

PUTRAJAYA: Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd is planning to start construction a commercial project adjacent to Alamanda shopping complex in Precinct 1, Putrajaya sometime next year, said chief executive officer Datuk Azlan Abdul Karim.

Azlan said the company plans to build “a big box retail area” that is designed for retailers of home furnishing and electrical goods.

Developers, builders fall on property tax, spending

KUALA LUMPUR: IJM Land Bhd led real estate stocks lower and builders fell after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak imposed a capital gains tax on property and the government cut development spending.

IJM Land, Malaysia’s fifth-biggest developer, slid 2% to RM2.44 at 10.28am on Oct 26, outpacing the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index’s 0.4% decline. IGB Corp lost 3.3% to RM2.07.
