The director-general of Health, who has been the focus of media and Malaysians since the Covid-19 outbreak, turns 57 on Tuesday, April 21.

"I apologise and admit my mistake regarding my presence at the Maahad Tahfiz Quran at Lid Dakwah Wal Imamah in Lenggong, Perak on Friday, after an official visit to the Lenggong Health Clinic.

“Since it involves a high number of residents, 90% of whom are foreigners, each day we mobilise between 1,500 to 2,000 residents to undergo the screening with 200 per tent."

Selangor Covid-19 Ops spokesman ACP Muhammad Yazid Muhammad Yew said 4,675 cases were recorded involving violent crimes and property crimes compared to 5,723 cases in the same period last year.

Noor Hisham pointed to the World Health Organization's (WHO) prediction that Malaysia will still be at “war” with Covid-19 even until next year, unless a vaccine for the coronavirus is found and made available to the public.

Dr Noor Hisham said the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Malaysia now stands at 5,425, while the number of active COVID-19 cases with infectivity is 2,041.

Affin Hwang Capital said based on data, it estimated aggregate construction sector net gearing was 0.59x in 2019, higher than 0.52x in 2008 (GFC) but lower than 1.26x in 1997 (AFC) levels while sector interest cover was a comfortable 4.2x in 2019, the same level as 2008 but higher than 2.8x in 1997. 

"We remain cautious on the sector given the weak earnings visibility due to the movement control order (MCO) impact and order book replenishment concerns," it said in a note today. 

The personnel which were conducting checks at the roadblock mounted in conjunction with the Movement Control Order (MCO) stopped a Toyota Vellfire vehicle at about 2am (Sunday) after the duo were caught behaving in a suspicious manner.
